About the African-American Achievers Award

Jim Moran, automotive legend and founder of JM Family Enterprises, Southeast Toyota Distributors and JM Lexus, believed in giving back and celebrating those who do the same. He established the African-American Achievers Awards in 1992 to say thank you to role models in South Florida who:

  • Reach beyond themselves to improve the lives of others
  • Motivate future generations and inspire change
  • Invest their time and talents to build a stronger community

With this in mind, we continue to honor outstanding African-Americans who consistently and unselfishly invest their time and talents to help change and improve the lives of others in the categories of:

  • Arts & Culture
  • Business & Entrepreneurism
  • Community Service
  • Education

We appreciate you taking time to recognize and nominate someone you feel exemplifies these characteristics. As a token of our appreciation, if your nominee is selected, we will make charitable donations on behalf of each of you to the charity(ies) of your choice.

  • The winner in each category will receive up to $10,000 to donate to the charity(ies) of their choice.
  • If you nominate one of the winners, you will receive up to $500 to donate to the charity(ies) of your choice.
